Outlook 2010 Spell Check As You Type Greyed Out Fix

    Fixing computers Friday! I got this error because my new work PC had Outlook 2010 pre-installed and configured on it, however there was no office suite, so I was able to transfer the install of Office 2007 Basic to the new PC. An unexpected result was that the auto spell checking feature didnt work in Outlook 2010 (File>Options>Editior Options). After some searching I was able fix this really easily, not that I cant speel or anything...!


    • First close Outlook completely.

    • Then go to: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office14 and copy the file name WINWORD.EXE

    • Next go to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14 and paste the WINWORD.EXE file.

    • Now start Outlook 2010 again and go to File>Options>Editior Options and the spell check options should no longer be greyed out.

    Other tutorials suggested to copy/paste using other directories, the ones above are what worked for me.
