How to refresh your Strava leaderboard position

Quite often after a cycling event people will create new segments or one for the whole route/course. Now as they do this the segments will appear in that rides Overview. However if you have placed in the top ten of the new segments leader board, Strava wont display a pretty gold Achievement.

Now it is possible to force Strava to re-check the rides segments, simply go the rides Overview, click the Spanner and then click on Crop. Now on the next screen just click Crop again, Strava now thinks you have cropped your ride (even though you haven't moved the Start or End points!) and so recalculates all the segments, including any new ones created since you uploaded your ride. If you've made it on to any leader boards you'll now be awarded the appropriate Achievement which will display on your rides Overview and under it in the dashboard :)

One thing the bare in mind, if you see a new segment or create one yourself, its better to wait 24 hours before doing the trick above. That way Strava has time to populate the leader board with everyone who has ridden that segment and gives you an accurate position. It works two ways though, that KOM on your ride might become a 2nd Place!
