If you've ever needed to get a GPX of a route you have seen on Strava, below is how to do it so that you have a GPX file which you can use as you need to. This is something I often when planning a ride somewhere I haven't ridden before, so I can upload a ride to a route planning site like http://bikeroutetoaster.com or http://ridewithgps.com

    • Locate the ride on Strava, the URL will look something like this:
    or like:

    • You'll need the number at the end. Next copy the URL below to your address bar, and replace the XYZ with the number from the end of your ride.

    would become:

    • Hit Enter and the route will download as a GPX file!

So now you have the .gpx file for the ride you can either upload it straight to your garmin or mobile device and go for a ride, or you can upload it to a route planning site like ridewithgps.com or bikeroutetoaster.com.

Note if you're trying to download a GPX of your own ride then simply go to your ride on Strava, click on the Spanner on the left of the screen and then click Export GPX. Simple as that!
